Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of these terms

These terms govern your use of Exon Studio, including the desktop editor, the website, and the package registry (together, the "service"). By creating an account or using the service you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

2. The service

Exon Studio provides a visual programming editor and a public package registry for sharing reusable nodes, modules, and templates built on the exon runtime. You may use the service for any lawful purpose. You may not use it to distribute malware, infringe intellectual property, or violate applicable law.

3. Accounts

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials. You must notify us promptly if you become aware of any unauthorized use of your account. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account, including packages published with your credentials.

4. Acceptable use of the registry

You may not use the registry to:

• Publish malware, spyware, cryptocurrency miners, or other malicious code
• Publish packages that scrape, spam, or abuse other users or the registry itself
• Automate account creation or package publication in a way that degrades the service for other users
• Circumvent rate limits, quotas, or authentication controls
• Publish content that is unlawful, defamatory, or that you do not have the right to distribute

We may enforce reasonable rate limits on registry and account-management endpoints to keep the service available to all users, and we may suspend automated access that we determine is abusive.

5. Packages and content

You retain ownership of packages and content you publish. By publishing to the registry, you grant other users a license to install and use your packages under the license you specify in the package manifest. If a package specifies no license, other users may not assume any license beyond what is necessary to install and run it through the service.

You are solely responsible for the content of packages you publish, including ensuring that you hold the necessary rights to any code, assets, or dependencies you include.

We reserve the right to remove packages that violate these terms or applicable law, and to suspend or transfer a package name where required to enforce this policy.

6. Package names and trademarks

Package names are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis and are not a grant of trademark rights. We may rename, un-publish, or transfer a package name where it infringes a third party's trademark, is deceptively similar to an existing package for the purpose of impersonation, or is being squatted without a published package. Where practical, we will attempt to notify the current owner before acting.

7. Intellectual property complaints

If you believe a package or other content on the service infringes your copyright or other intellectual property rights, contact us at contact@io9k.com with a description of the work, the material you believe is infringing, and your contact details. We will review and, where warranted, remove or disable access to the material and notify the publisher.

8. Security vulnerabilities

If you discover a security vulnerability in the service or in a package hosted on the registry, report it to us at contact@io9k.com rather than disclosing it publicly. We ask that you give us a reasonable opportunity to investigate and address a report before any public disclosure.

9. Third-party packages

Packages published by other users are not reviewed or endorsed by us before being made available on the registry. You install and use third-party packages at your own risk. We are not responsible for the content, quality, or security of packages we did not author.

10. Subscriptions and payments

Paid plans are billed monthly. You may cancel at any time; access continues until the end of the billing period. We do not offer refunds for partial months.

Prices may change with 30 days notice. Continued use after notice constitutes acceptance of the new pricing.

11. Termination

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms. You may delete your account at any time through the dashboard or by contacting us. On termination, your published packages may remain available to other users who depend on them unless removal is required under section 5 or 7.

12. Disclaimer of warranties

The service is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. We make no guarantee of uptime, data retention, or fitness for a particular purpose.

13. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service, including damages arising from packages published by other users.

14. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify us against claims arising from content you publish to the registry or from your use of the service in violation of these terms.

15. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. We will post the updated terms on this page with a new "last updated" date. Continued use of the service after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
